Overview

 

The CNC Operator Trainee is responsible for learning safe and efficient CNC machining practices under the direction of supervisors and experienced operators. Upon demonstrating proficiency and meeting required skill levels, the individual may assist with or independently operate CNC lathes, mills, and mill-turn machines. Successful candidates will be able to read and interpret engineering drawings, perform basic shop mathematics, and accurately use precision measuring instruments such as micrometers, calipers, thread gages, and plug gages.



Responsibilities

  • Operating impregnation machine and deburring (potentially drilling and punch press) 
  • Work under the direction of the shop supervisor and/or lead-person to perform daily tasks that may include but not limited to: Checking all CNC machines to ensure proper raw material is loaded in bar feeds based on needs specified on individual setup sheets.
  • Check and fill necessary all CNC machines to ensure coolant tanks are full and at correct viscosity levels using a refractometer
  • Bench drilling small diameter and inspecting work to ensure compliance
  • Operating tumbler wash, debur frill press and other simple equipment
  • Actively participates in safety continuous improvement and processes needed to ensure production in maintained
  • Monitoring gauges, dials, or other indicators to make sure a machine is working properly
  • Other duties as assigned


Qualifications



  • Minimum 1-3 years CNC machine shop experience as a machinist operating CNC machines
  • High School diploma or GED or trade school certifications
  • Knowledge of principles and processes for providing good customer services. This includes meeting quality standards for services, and evaluation of customer satisfaction.
  • Knowledge of raw materials, production processes, quality control, costs, and other techniques for maximizing the effective manufacture of goods.
  • Lean experience in setups and mistake proofing preferred
