Accountant III (Sr. Accountant)

We are looking for an experienced Senior Accountant to support core accounting operations for a transport organization in Atlanta, Georgia. This Long-term Contract position is ideal for someone who can manage close activities, maintain accurate financial records, and provide reliable analysis that supports sound business decisions. The role requires strong attention to detail, a solid grasp of reconciliations and journal activity, and the ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment.

Responsibilities:
• Lead monthly close activities by preparing entries, reviewing balances, and helping ensure timely and accurate financial reporting.
• Maintain the general ledger by recording financial activity correctly and investigating variances or unusual account movements.
• Perform detailed reconciliations for balance sheet accounts and resolve discrepancies with appropriate follow-up and documentation.
• Complete bank account reviews and cash-related reconciliations to confirm accuracy between internal records and external statements.
• Analyze period-over-period fluctuations and identify meaningful drivers behind changes in financial results.
• Support disbursement and payment processing activities by verifying transactions, monitoring controls, and addressing exceptions as needed.
• Prepare and post journal entries with clear support, appropriate classification, and compliance with accounting policies.
• Partner with internal stakeholders to improve reporting accuracy and assist with accounting tasks tied to operational or process updates when required.

Qualifications:

• 5+ years of accounting experience, including senior-level responsibility for close and reconciliation work.
• Proven experience managing month-end close processes in a deadline-driven environment.
• Strong working knowledge of general ledger accounting, journal entry preparation, and account analysis.
• Hands-on experience with bank reconciliations, balance sheet reconciliations, and discrepancy resolution.
• Ability to perform fluctuation or flux analysis and explain financial variances clearly.
• Background supporting disbursements and payment processing with a high level of accuracy.
• Strong attention to detail, organizational skills, and the ability to manage multiple priorities effectively.

Compensation

$45.00-$50.00 Hourly
