AWS Senior Data Engineer

We are looking for an AWS Senior Data Engineer to join a long-term contract opportunity supporting data initiatives within the automotive industry in Southern California. In this role, you will build and enhance cloud-based data pipelines that power analytics, reporting, and operational decision-making. The position requires strong hands-on experience with AWS data services, scalable processing frameworks, and modern engineering practices to deliver reliable and efficient data solutions.

Responsibilities:

• Build, deploy, and support end-to-end data pipelines using AWS services such as Glue, Lambda, Redshift, S3, Athena, and Airflow-based orchestration tools.

• Create scalable data processing solutions with Python, PySpark, and Apache Spark to manage large and complex datasets efficiently.

• Develop extraction, transformation, and loading workflows that move data accurately into target platforms for reporting and downstream consumption.

• Implement data quality controls, validation routines, and exception handling to improve reliability and maintain trusted datasets.

• Tune pipeline performance and refine SQL and Redshift workloads to meet service expectations for speed, scalability, and cost efficiency.

• Partner with analysts, technical teams, and business stakeholders to convert data needs into practical engineering designs and production-ready solutions.

• Maintain clear technical documentation for pipeline logic, data flows, operational processes, and system specifications.

• Ensure data integration activities align with governance standards, compliance expectations, and established engineering best practices.

• Provide ongoing production support for deployed data solutions and address issues affecting pipeline stability or data availability.

Qualifications:

• 5+ years of experience in data engineering, ETL development, database design, and data warehousing environments.
• 3+ years of hands-on experience with AWS data technologies, including services such as S3, Glue, Athena, Redshift, Spectrum, and workflow orchestration tools.
• 3+ years of programming experience in Python, Java, or Scala, with strong capability in building data processing applications.
• Proven experience working with PySpark, Apache Spark, or similar distributed data processing frameworks.
• 2+ years of experience with CI/CD tools and deployment practices in a data engineering environment.
• Strong understanding of data storage architectures, relational databases, and data lake platforms.
• Ability to work onsite in Marysville, Ohio four days per week, with readiness to work onsite on a permanent basis when business needs require.
• Experience with Informatica Cloud or emerging AI-driven engineering tools is a plus.

Compensation

$63.00-$67.00 Hourly
