Staff Accountant

We are looking for a detail-oriented Staff Accountant to support key accounting operations for a Long-term Contract opportunity based in Morristown, New Jersey. This role combines hands-on responsibility for monthly close activities with ongoing support for financial reporting, payroll-related accounting, and fixed asset management. The position follows a hybrid schedule with two days onsite and three days remote, and standard working hours are 9:00 AM to 5:00 PM.

Responsibilities:
• Lead core month-end close tasks, ensuring accounting entries and supporting documentation are completed accurately and on schedule for multiple business entities.
• Prepare and post payroll, bonus, and compensation-related journal entries, including related accruals and supporting analysis.
• Maintain fixed asset records by tracking new additions, calculating depreciation, and verifying accurate accounting treatment.
• Perform balance sheet and general ledger reconciliations, investigating discrepancies and resolving outstanding items promptly.
• Contribute to the preparation and review of financial reporting schedules and supporting details for internal use.
• Partner with accounting team members on ad hoc assignments and special projects that support broader finance objectives.

Qualifications:

• Proven experience preparing journal entries and working within general ledger accounting processes.
• Strong background in account reconciliation, including balance sheet reconciliations and resolution of reconciling items.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Excel for analysis, reporting, and account support schedules.
• Experience using Great Plains and/or Microsoft Dynamics 365 Business Central in an accounting environment.
• Solid understanding of month-end close procedures, accruals, and financial reporting support.
• Ability to manage multiple priorities while maintaining accuracy in a deadline-driven setting.

Compensation

$31.66-$36.66 Hourly
