Accounting Manager

Compensation: $50 to $55 Hourly

We are looking for an Accounting Manager to support critical financial operations for a transport organization in Atlanta, Georgia. This Long-term Contract position will lead payroll-focused accounting activities while ensuring accurate reporting across the general ledger, month-end close, and compliance-related processes. The role also oversees accounting tied to employee compensation, benefits, pension obligations, and retirement savings plans, while partnering with stakeholders to maintain strong financial controls and audit readiness.

Responsibilities:
• Lead payroll accounting activities from start to finish, ensuring wages, benefits, deductions, and related liabilities are recorded accurately and on time.
• Manage the month-end close process by preparing and reviewing journal entries, reconciling accounts, and resolving variances that affect financial results.
• Oversee general ledger accuracy by monitoring account activity, maintaining proper classifications, and supporting consistent accounting practices.
• Prepare and review balance sheet reconciliations related to payroll, benefits, pension plans, and retirement savings accounts.
• Support financial statement audit activities by organizing documentation, answering auditor requests, and helping address accounting issues efficiently.
• Coordinate accounting for pension and retirement savings plans, including tracking employer contributions, liabilities, and related reporting requirements.
• Review payroll-related entries and accruals to confirm compliance with internal controls, accounting standards, and company policies.
• Partner with payroll, finance, and benefits teams to improve the accuracy of payroll accounting processes and resolve complex discrepancies.

Qualifications:

• Proven experience in accounting leadership with a strong focus on payroll-related financial processes.
• Strong working knowledge of month-end close procedures, general ledger management, and account reconciliation.
• Experience preparing and reviewing journal entries, accruals, and payroll-related balance sheet activity.
• Familiarity with financial statement audits and the ability to support audit requests with clear documentation.
• Knowledge of accounting for employee benefits, pensions, and retirement savings plans.
• Ability to analyze variances, identify root causes, and implement accurate financial corrections.
• Strong attention to detail and the ability to manage multiple deadlines in a fast-paced environment.

Compensation

$50.00-$55.00 Hourly
