Sr. Director of Finance
Responsibilities:
• Direct the organization’s accounting function and oversee core financial activities to ensure accurate, efficient, and timely operations.
• Lead the development of annual budgets, periodic forecasts, and longer-range financial plans that align with organizational goals.
• Produce and interpret monthly, quarterly, and year-end financial reports, offering clear analysis for leadership review and planning.
• Supervise general ledger maintenance and manage closing activities to support reliable financial records and reporting deadlines.
• Oversee disbursements, receivables, liquidity management, and banking relationships to maintain strong day-to-day financial health.
• Track cash position, spending trends, and overall fiscal performance, identifying risks and opportunities for improvement.
• Establish and refine internal controls, accounting guidelines, and financial procedures to strengthen stewardship and compliance.
• Serve as the primary contact for external auditors and manage the annual audit process from preparation through completion.
• Ensure proper accounting and reporting for grants, donations, and restricted and unrestricted funding sources in accordance with nonprofit standards.
• Present financial insights to executives and board members while partnering with department leaders on budget oversight and operational decisions.
Qualifications:
• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, or a closely related discipline.• Significant progressive experience in accounting and financial leadership, including oversight of budgeting and financial reporting.
• Background in nonprofit finance strongly preferred, with familiarity in fund accounting and mission-based organizations.
• Demonstrated knowledge of financial statement preparation, audit coordination, internal controls, and month-end close processes.
• Experience managing grants, contributions, and restricted versus unrestricted revenue is preferred.
• Ability to communicate financial information effectively to senior leadership and boards or governing bodies.
• Strong analytical thinking, organizational ability, and sound judgment in managing multiple priorities and deadlines.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills with a collaborative, hands-on working style.
Compensation
