Controller
We are looking for an experienced Controller to lead accounting operations in a hands-on capacity for a diversified organization based in Eatontown, New Jersey. This role oversees financial activities across multiple business lines, including manufacturing and distribution, real estate, and hospitality, while also providing day-to-day leadership to accounting staff. The ideal candidate combines strong technical accounting knowledge with the ability to guide process discipline, maintain accurate records, and support sound financial decision-making.
Responsibilities:
• Direct daily accounting functions across multiple entities, ensuring timely and accurate financial reporting for manufacturing, distribution, real estate, and hospitality operations.
• Supervise and mentor accounting team members while remaining actively involved in detailed accounting work and issue resolution.
• Manage month-end and year-end close activities, including reconciliations, journal entries, and review of supporting documentation.
• Maintain strong internal controls over financial records, document management, and reporting processes to support compliance and audit readiness.
• Coordinate the organization, review, scanning, and retention of accounting records to ensure documentation is complete, accessible, and properly filed.
• Partner with operational leaders to analyze financial results, monitor performance, and provide recommendations that support business objectives.
• Oversee cash management, budgeting support, and financial oversight for a portfolio of related companies.
• Assist with process improvements and accounting workflow updates, including documentation-related procedures and recordkeeping standards.
Qualifications:
• Proven experience in a Controller or senior-level accounting leadership role overseeing complex, multi-entity operations.• Strong knowledge of accounting principles, financial reporting, and internal control practices.
• Background supporting industries such as manufacturing, distribution, real estate, or hospitality is highly valued.
• Demonstrated ability to lead staff while also handling hands-on accounting responsibilities.
• Experience managing document control, document compilation, and scanning processes within an accounting or finance environment.
• High level of accuracy, organization, and attention to detail when maintaining financial records and supporting documents.
• Proficiency with accounting systems and Microsoft Office applications, particularly Excel.
• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field preferred.
Compensation
