PRIMARY FUNCTIONS: Responsible for contributing to the commercial lending activities by managing the risk of the commercial loan portfolio, through performing periodic reviews of existing commercial relationships, preparing loan modifications, and producing monthly and quarterly reports.  


DUTIES and RESPONSIBILITIES:

  1. Responsible for managing the coordination and collection of existing commercial loan members’ required financial reporting (monthly, quarterly and annual) in accordance with loan terms, conditions and Loan Policy requirements.
  2. Monitor/manage the commercial loan portfolio on a continuing basis as to collateral and credit quality and provide early warning of possible deterioration, inclusive of covenant testing, completion of periodic reviews, and monitoring of risk ratings.
  3. Ensure timely loan renewals, covenant monitoring and periodic relationship reviews.
  4. Prepare clear, well-supported credit documentation, review memoranda, and risk commentary suitable for internal approval, audit, and regulatory review.
  5. Review exceptions, documentation issues, maturity exposure, covenant breaches, and other risk indicators and ensure matters are appropriately tracked, resolved, or escalated.
  6. Approve commercial loan requests and modifications within delegated authority limits.
  7. Assist in the coordination, design and development of various loan concentration and property sensitivity analysis reports.
  8. Responsible for performing in-depth underwriting analysis of commercial borrower’s character, credit worthiness and financial condition. 
  9. Support lending function by providing analytical support to commercial lending team.
  10. Analyze financial statements, tax returns, cash flow analyses, collateral valuations, business projections and related material to prepare written credit analysis of individual and corporate borrowers.
  11. Develop credit information for use by lenders and Member Business Loan Committee in lending decisions on new loans, renewals and extensions.
  12. Review and analyze property financial information to determine actual income, expenses and projected debt service coverage.
  13. Review credit reports, appraisals, environmental reports, title reports and loan documentation for collateral property.
  14. Provide quality analysis of financial statements according to established format and within parameters of loan review program; analyze and prepare written analysis of new commercial member loan requests.
  15. Examine and review loan documentation for accuracy and completeness, referring deficient files to Vice President of Commercial Lending.
  16. Complete loan review forms, research, compile and ensure accuracy of information, including conducting credit investigations and the preparation and packaging of loan documentation.
  17. Prepare various reports for Management, such as monthly and quarterly loan status reports.
  18. Review loan exception reports and track outstanding items, focusing on attention to detail with respect to compliance and applicable regulations throughout the function.
  19. Oversee and manage financial information files to assure current reports, statements, accounts receivable and other information on customer accounts.
  20. Provide technical advice and assistance to loan officers as needed.
  21. Generate business through promoting and cross-selling all COFCU programs and encourage new credit union membership
  22. In the absence of the VP of Commercial Lending, meets with applicants and obtains information regarding earnings and financial condition to evaluate the applicant's creditworthiness.
  23. Assist with internal and external audits and examinations.
  24. Perform miscellaneous duties, as requested.
  25. Stay current on job-related equipment, procedures and/or information by reading handouts/memos, attending meetings and seminars and other necessary means.
  26. Adhere to all applicable Credit Union policies, procedures and regulations.
  27. Participate in special projects and community activities, as needed.
  28. All other duties and responsibilities as directed.

Pay Range: $76,000 - $98,000 per year commensurate with experience

Schedule: This position is eligible for a hybrid work arrangement with a combination of in office and remote days upon completion of in-office training period. 



Education:  Bachelor’s degree required, preferably in accounting or finance 

Experience: 3-5 years of financial analysis experience in a banking environment; a working knowledge of commercial credit analysis. 

Skills: Knowledge of credit and financial analysis techniques; strong understanding of loan risk factors; demonstrated ability to independently gather, consolidate, analyze and summarize data to provide well-considered recommendations for all levels of credit relationships.
