What You Will Do

• The Assistant Director, SIUE Futures is responsible for bridging the executive vision for K-12 programs and daily operations related to those programs on the Belleville and East St. Louis campuses both, alongside and in the absence of the director.
• The Assistant Director supervises the program staff and student employees, contributes to strategic planning and program development, conducts workshops and information sessions, oversees the SIUE Futures programs' administrative processes, and coordinates community partnerships with school districts and other educational and youth serving partners.
• SIUE Futures programs serve youth ages 6-18, by providing curricular, co-curricular, and extra curricular opportunities with a focus on academic readiness, leadership development, and service learning. Through these programs on our campuses, engaging with faculty, staff and undergraduates, SIUE Futures program participants have opportunities to see themselves as future SIUE students.

Minimum Acceptable Qualifications

Bachelors degree.
A total of one (1) year (12 months) in education, training and/or work experience in the area of specialization inherent to the position. (Note: Masters Degree in an area consistent with the duties of the position may be substituted for one (1) year of work experience.)
Based on position requirements, additional education, training, and/or work experience in the area of specialization inherent to the position, may be required.
AND
-Bachelor's Degree in Sociology, Psychology, Public Administration, Elementary or Secondary Education, or related field.
-3+ years experience in community and/or educational outreach
-1+ years experience in an education setting such as classroom teaching experience or experience in an educational or youth serving organization
Years can be concurrent with above.

Preferred Qualifications

-Master's Degree
-Supervisory experience
-Experience in public service, with proven record of effectiveness of public engagement with children and families

Illinois Residency Requirement : Pursuant to the State Universities Civil Service System, out-of-state candidates must establish Illinois residency within 180 calendar days of the start date for this position.
