Full Charge Bookkeeper
A growing small business in the Parsippany area is seeking an experienced Full Charge Bookkeeper to take ownership of the company’s day-to-day accounting operations. This Full Charge Bookkeeper role is an excellent opportunity for a hands-on, self-sufficient bookkeeper who enjoys working independently, taking ownership of the books, and serving as the go-to accounting resource for a small, close-knit organization. The ideal Full Charge Bookkeeper will be comfortable operating in a stand-alone bookkeeping role, managing the accounting function from A–Z with minimal day-to-day supervision. If this Full Charge Bookkeeper has prior QuickBooks Online experience it is preferred but not required. Full Charge Bookkeeper Responsibilities
- Take ownership of the company’s day-to-day bookkeeping and accounting operations, ensuring financial records are accurate, organized, and up to date.
- Manage the general ledger, including journal entries, account coding, accruals, and adjustments.
- Handle month-end and year-end close, including reconciliations, supporting schedules, and preparation for external review.
- Perform regular bank, credit card, and balance sheet reconciliations and research/resolve discrepancies.
- Manage the full accounts payable process, including invoice entry, approvals, vendor communications, and payments.
- Manage accounts receivable, including customer invoicing, payment posting, aging reports, and collection follow-up.
- Prepare monthly P& L statements, balance sheets, cash flow reports, and other financial reporting for company leadership.
- Monitor cash flow, outstanding receivables, payables, and other key financial activity.
- Maintain organized and accurate financial records and documentation.
- Serve as the primary accounting contact for the company and work directly with ownership and management on financial matters.
- Coordinate with the company’s outside CPA/accountant on month-end adjustments, year-end close, tax preparation, and other accounting needs.
- Utilize QuickBooks Online for daily bookkeeping, reporting, reconciliations, and financial record maintenance.
- Identify opportunities to improve accounting processes, controls, and efficiencies as the business continues to grow.
- Handle additional accounting and administrative responsibilities as needed.

Qualifications:
- 5+ years of full-charge bookkeeping or small-business accounting experience.
- Comfortable being the sole or primary accounting professional within a small organization.
- Able to independently manage the books from AP and AR through reconciliations, month-end close, and financial reporting.
- Strong understanding of debits/credits, general ledger accounting, and financial statements.
- Highly organized and detail-oriented with excellent follow-through.
- Comfortable working directly with business owners and senior leadership.
- Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to identify and resolve discrepancies independently.
- QuickBooks Online experience preferred, but not required.
- Strong Excel and Microsoft Office skills.
- Local to the Parsippany, NJ area preferred.
Compensation
