Payroll Accountant

We are looking for a Payroll Accountant to support accurate and timely payroll operations for a workforce spanning multiple states in New York, New York. This Long-term Contract position will focus on end-to-end payroll processing, tax-related reporting, and maintaining compliance with applicable payroll regulations. The ideal candidate brings strong hands-on experience with ADP Workforce Now and a detail-oriented approach to payroll accounting and reconciliation.

Responsibilities:
• Process complete payroll cycles from data review through final submission, ensuring employees are paid accurately and on schedule.
• Manage payroll activities across multiple states while applying the appropriate wage, tax, and compliance requirements for each jurisdiction.
• Prepare, review, and submit payroll tax filings and related reports in accordance with federal, state, and local deadlines.
• Use ADP Workforce Now to maintain payroll records, validate transactions, and resolve processing issues efficiently.
• Reconcile payroll data against accounting records and investigate discrepancies to support accurate financial reporting.
• Audit earnings, deductions, garnishments, and benefit withholdings to confirm correct setup and payment results.
• Partner with HR, finance, and internal stakeholders to address payroll questions, employee updates, and reporting needs.
• Maintain organized payroll documentation and support compliance reviews by providing complete and accurate records.

Qualifications:

• Proven experience handling full-cycle payroll in a high-volume or complex environment.
• Hands-on proficiency with ADP Workforce Now for payroll processing and record management.
• Working knowledge of multi-state payroll practices and jurisdiction-specific compliance requirements.
• Experience preparing payroll tax reports and supporting timely tax filings.
• Strong payroll accounting skills, including reconciliations and discrepancy resolution.
• High attention to detail with the ability to manage confidential information responsibly.
• Effective communication skills and the ability to collaborate across payroll, HR, and finance functions.

Compensation

$38.00-$45.00 Hourly
