Accounting Manager
We are looking for an Accounting Manager to support a client engagement at a PE backed company in Northern Virginia. This Long-term Contract position is ideal for a hands-on, detail-oriented accounting manager who can oversee core financial operations, strengthen receivables processes, and maintain accurate reporting. This role will contribute to monthly close activities, balance sheet integrity, and audit readiness while partnering with stakeholders to ensure dependable financial results.
Responsibilities:
• Direct month-end close activities, ensuring deadlines are met and financial results are recorded accurately.
• Maintain the general ledger by reviewing transactions, preparing entries, and resolving accounting discrepancies.
• Lead account reconciliation efforts across key balance sheet and income statement accounts to support reliable reporting.
• Oversee accounts receivable operations, including invoicing oversight, collection follow-up, and issue resolution related to customer balances.
• Apply revenue recognition practices in accordance with established accounting guidance and company policies.
• Prepare and review journal entries with appropriate supporting documentation and approval controls.
• Support financial statement audit activities by organizing schedules, responding to auditor requests, and addressing follow-up items.
Qualifications:
• Proven experience managing accounting operations with strong ownership of month-end close and general ledger activity.• Hands-on background in account reconciliations, journal entry preparation, and financial reporting support.
• Solid understanding of accounts receivable processes and revenue recognition principles.
• Experience supporting financial statement audits and preparing documentation for external review.
• Proficiency with Sage Intacct or comparable cloud-based accounting platforms.
• Strong analytical skills with the ability to identify variances, investigate issues, and recommend solutions.
• Excellent organizational and communication skills with the ability to work effectively across teams in a contract environment.
