Software Engineer

Robert Half is seeking a Senior Software Engineer with strong expertise in backend development and an AI forward mindset to support a Financial Services client headquartered in Bellevue, WA. This position is a 6 month contract and is 100% Remote. Apply today!

Location: 100% Remote

Responsibilities:

• Develop secure, scalable, and maintainable backend applications using Python.
• Design, build, and maintain microservices, RESTful APIs, and cloud-native applications.
• Develop reusable solutions, shared libraries, and engineering standards that improve team productivity.
• Participate in code reviews and ensure adherence to development and quality standards.
• Implement unit, integration, and performance testing to support production-ready solutions.
• Configure and maintain CI/CD pipelines and development automation.
• Troubleshoot production issues and perform root cause analysis.
• Partner with Product Owners, Business Analysts, architects, and other stakeholders to translate business requirements into effective technical solutions.
• Participate in and lead technical design discussions, architecture reviews, and engineering initiatives.
• Apply best practices for scalability, security, performance, observability, disaster recovery, and capacity planning.
• Communicate technical decisions and tradeoffs effectively to both technical and non-technical audiences.
• Mentor and provide technical guidance to other engineers through pairing, coaching, and knowledge sharing.
• Leverage AI-assisted development tools and integrated AI agents to improve developer velocity, code quality, automation, and engineering outcomes.
• Evaluate emerging technologies and help introduce tools and practices that improve software delivery.

Qualifications:

• 7+ years of professional software development experience in enterprise or cloud environments.
• Strong hands-on experience with Python backend development.
• Proven experience designing and delivering RESTful APIs, including authentication, scalability, documentation, lifecycle management, and API publishing.
• Experience with API Management platforms, with Apigee strongly preferred.
• Strong experience with AWS and cloud-native, event-driven, and serverless application development.
• Strong understanding of microservices architecture, service-to-service integrations, API contracts, and event-driven systems.
• Hands-on experience with AI-assisted development tools and integrated AI agents.
• Strong communication and collaboration skills across engineering, product, business, and architecture teams.
