Senior Accountant

Houston, TX 77007, US Temporary
Compensation: $35 to $43 Hourly

An established and growing organization in Central Houston is seeking a Senior Accountant to join its accounting team. This position will play a key role in the month-end close process, financial reporting, fixed asset accounting, and accrual management.

The ideal candidate is hands-on, analytical, and comfortable working in a fast-paced environment where accuracy, ownership, and attention to detail are critical. This role offers visibility to leadership and the opportunity to contribute to process improvements while supporting the overall financial health of the organization.

Key Responsibilities

  • Prepare and post monthly journal entries, including accruals, prepaids, and reclassifications
  • Manage month-end and year-end close activities to ensure timely and accurate reporting
  • Maintain and reconcile fixed asset schedules, including additions, disposals, transfers, and depreciation
  • Prepare monthly balance sheet reconciliations and investigate variances
  • Assist with the preparation of monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements
  • Analyze income statement and balance sheet accounts and provide variance explanations
  • Ensure compliance with GAAP and internal accounting policies
  • Support budgeting and forecasting activities as needed
  • Partner with operational leaders to gather financial information and support decision-making
  • Assist with external audits and provide supporting schedules and documentation
  • Identify opportunities for process improvements and increased efficiencies
  • Support special projects and ad hoc reporting requests



Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance
  • 5+ years of progressive accounting experience
  • Strong experience with month-end close, accrual accounting, and account reconciliations
  • Experience managing fixed assets and depreciation schedules
  • Financial reporting experience required
  • Advanced Microsoft Excel skills, including Pivot Tables, VLOOKUPs, and financial analysis
  • Experience with ERP systems such as SAP, Oracle, NetSuite, Dynamics 365, JD Edwards, or similar
  • Strong understanding of GAAP
  • Excellent analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills

Preferred Qualifications

  • CPA or CPA candidate preferred
  • Public accounting experience a plus
  • Experience within manufacturing, energy, construction, or distribution environments preferred
  • Experience supporting multi-entity operations



Compensation

$35.00-$43.00 Hourly
