The Starzl Transplantation Institute (STI) at the University of Pittsburgh is seeking applicants for a Postdoctoral Associate position.

We are seeking a highly motivated postdoctoral fellow interested in developing novel approaches to study human T follicular helper cell (TFH) biology in transplantation. The project is NIH funded and focuses on characterizing the heterogeneous epigenetic and environmental regulation of circulating and tissue infiltrating TFH cells and defining how distinct signals govern memory TFH cell fate decisions, including their contribution to mild humoral rejection versus rapid progression to chronic rejection and graft loss after solid organ transplantation.

The successful candidate should hold an MD or PhD in immunology, computational biology/systems biology, or a related field, and should have expertise in multi-omic analytical approaches, including in vitro cellular assays, spectral flow cytometry/FACS sorting, molecular and metabolic techniques of analysis at single cell levels. Candidates with analytical and critical thinking skills and strong written and oral communication skills are highly valued. The appointee will present findings at local, national, or international conferences, help prepare manuscripts for publication in peer-reviewed journals, and write post-doctoral fellowship grants.

The laboratory, led by Diana M. Metes, MD Professor of Surgery & Immunology is located in the Thomas E. Starzl Transplantation Institute, Department of Surgery, at the University of Pittsburgh School of Medicine, with access to state-of-the-art core facilities, a highly collegial work environment, and extensive career development opportunities.

The University of Pittsburgh is an equal opportunity employer / disability / veteran.
