The Sound, Systems, and Structures Laboratory is dedicated to modeling and testing vibroacoustic systems. The lab combines the related fields of acoustics, dynamics, vibrations, signal processing and controls in order to model and simulate various physical and biological systems in order to understand their behavior and or develop diagnostics and medical devices.

Required Educational Background: Applicant must have a Ph.D. in mechanical engineering, electrical engineering, applied physics, or a closely-related field.

Required Skillset: For the research component of the position, the required skillset includes: Strong background in vibroacoustic modeling and testing, experimental testing, as well as technical presentations and publications. In addition to conducting research, your duties may also include preparing reports, performing literature reviews, supervising graduate and undergraduate students, and assisting with other projects in the lab. Good verbal and written communication skills; Ability to work independently and within a team delivering project components on given time schedules; Ability to multi-task.

Responsibilities: The research-related responsibilities of this position will include: Mentoring graduate students; Writing journal publications, preparing reports that summarize the work conducted for progress reports to funding agencies; Planning, developing, and implementing technical and scientific research programs; Contributing to proposal writing and acquisition of preliminary data.
