Fund Accountant

San Francisco, CA 94111, US Temporary
Compensation: $35 to $50 Hourly

We are seeking a Fund Accountant to support the accounting and reporting activities of an investment management firm in San Francisco. This hybrid contract role will focus on fund-level accounting, portfolio reconciliations, capital activity, financial reporting, and audit support.

Responsibilities

  • Maintain accounting records for assigned investment funds and related entities.
  • Prepare and post journal entries for investment, income, expense, and capital activity.
  • Reconcile cash, investment positions, and fund activity to custodial and administrator records.
  • Calculate or review net asset value and investor allocations.
  • Record capital calls, distributions, management fees, and fund expenses.
  • Maintain partner capital accounts and investment roll-forward schedules.
  • Prepare monthly, quarterly, and annual fund reporting packages.
  • Review administrator reports and investigate accounting discrepancies.
  • Assist with financial statement preparation and annual audits.
  • Coordinate with fund administrators, auditors, custodians, and internal teams.
  • Support investor reporting, data requests, and ad hoc accounting projects.
  • Document procedures and identify opportunities to improve fund accounting processes.

Qualifications:

  • 2+ years of fund accounting, investment accounting, or financial-services accounting experience.
  • Bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance, economics, or a related field.
  • Experience with investment reconciliations, journal entries, and financial reporting.
  • Understanding of capital calls, distributions, management fees, and partner allocations.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, including pivot tables and lookup formulas.
  • Experience with private equity, venture capital, hedge funds, or other alternative investments preferred.
  • Familiarity with Investran, Allvue, Geneva, eFront, Yardi Investment Management, or a comparable system is a plus.
  • Strong analytical, reconciliation, and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to work independently and meet monthly, quarterly, and annual deadlines.
  • Experience working with fund administrators or external auditors is preferred.

Compensation

$35.00-$50.00 Hourly
