Plunkett's Pest Control, a family-owned company with over 100 years of history, is adding a Procurement Specialist to our Finance team in Fridley, MN.
The Procurement Specialist is responsible for sourcing, purchasing, and managing the materials, equipment, chemicals, and services that support our pest control operations. This role ensures products are procured cost-effectively, delivered on time, and compliant with company standards, environmental regulations, and safety requirements. The Procurement Specialist works closely with Operations, Warehouse, Finance, and vendor partners to maintain efficient inventory levels and support uninterrupted service delivery.
What You'll Do
- Negotiate pricing, contracts, terms, and service agreements with vendors and suppliers
- Partner with the Materials Coordinator to identify and provide company-approved purchasing options for materials and supplies
- Drive cost savings by negotiating vendor terms and optimizing participation in manufacturer and supplier rebate programs
- Issue and manage purchase orders in compliance with company purchasing policies
- Monitor supplier performance, delivery schedules, and quality standards, and identify alternative sourcing options
- Monitor inventory levels and forecast purchasing needs based on seasonal demand and operational requirements
- Collaborate with warehouse and field operations teams to maintain appropriate stock levels and reduce shortages, overstock, and waste
- Conduct inventory audits and assist with cycle counts
- Develop and maintain strong vendor and supplier relationships, and resolve issues related to quality, shipping delays, or invoicing discrepancies
- Maintain an approved vendor database
- Ensure procurement activities comply with federal, state, and local regulations regarding pesticide and chemical purchases
- Maintain records related to product certifications, Safety Data Sheets (SDS), and other regulatory requirements
- Review invoices, reconcile purchasing documentation, and track procurement spending
- Assist with budget planning, cost analysis, and purchasing reports
- Maintain accurate procurement records within company ERP or inventory systems
What You'll Need
- Associate's or bachelor's degree in Supply Chain Management, Business Administration, Operations Management, or a related field preferred
- Experience working with inventory management software, ERP systems, or purchasing platforms
- Strong negotiation and vendor management skills
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office, especially Excel
- Excellent analytical, organizational, and problem-solving abilities
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- Preferred 2+ years of procurement, purchasing, inventory management, or supply chain experience
Preferred, but not required: experience in pest control, environmental services, facilities management, landscaping, or related service industries; knowledge of pesticide products, application equipment, and regulatory requirements; APICS, CPSM, CPPB, or similar procurement certification; and experience managing chemical inventory and safety compliance documentation.
