Description

Subcontract Project Manager

Location: Farnborough

Clearance: DV Clearance

The Subcontract Project Manager will support delivery of the Programme, working at the interface between Leidos, key subcontractors, suppliers and internal programme functions. The role is responsible for coordinating subcontractor delivery activity, maintaining clear plans, managing dependencies, tracking risks and issues, and ensuring supplier commitments are aligned to programme milestones, governance expectations and customer outcomes.

The Programme is a complex UK defence programme focused on the transition, delivery and evolution of secure digital services. The programme requires disciplined project controls, proactive supplier management, strong stakeholder engagement and robust assurance to support transition readiness, service commencement, technical refresh, decommissioning and continuous improvement activity.

The successful candidate will be a proactive, delivery-focused project manager with strong attention to detail, excellent communication skills and the ability to operate confidently across commercial, technical, operational and supplier teams. The role will work closely with the Programme Manager, Commercial and Subcontracts teams, Transition Manager, Service Delivery Manager, technical leads and key subcontractor representatives.

What will I be doing?

* Manage the day-to-day planning, coordination and delivery of subcontractor activities across assigned programme workstreams, ensuring scope, milestones, dependencies and deliverables are clearly understood and actively managed.

* Maintain integrated subcontractor delivery plans, action logs, RAID records, dependency registers and reporting inputs, ensuring accurate visibility of progress, blockers, risks and upcoming decisions.

* Coordinate supplier inputs into transition, mobilisation, service readiness, acceptance, technical refresh, decommissioning and programme governance activities.

* Support the management of subcontractor deliverables, evidence packs, implementation products, reporting submissions and acceptance artefacts, ensuring they are produced to the required quality and timescales.

* Work with Commercial and Subcontracts colleagues to identify scope boundaries, change impacts, contractual dependencies, supplier obligations and any commercial risks requiring escalation.

* Drive timely resolution of subcontractor risks, issues, assumptions and dependencies, escalating where required through programme governance and ensuring mitigation actions are owned, tracked and closed.

* Facilitate effective working relationships between Leidos, subcontractors, suppliers and internal delivery teams, promoting clear communication, collaborative behaviours and disciplined follow-through on commitments.

* Support programme reporting, delivery reviews and governance forums by providing concise updates on subcontractor progress, forecast activity, key decisions, risks, issues and required interventions.

* Experience working with multidisciplinary delivery teams across commercial, technical, service, transition, security and supplier functions.

* Ability to interpret delivery commitments, identify emerging risk, manage competing priorities and drive practical resolution of blockers.

* Excellent stakeholder management and communication skills, with the confidence to engage senior programme stakeholders, suppliers and delivery teams.

* High attention to detail, strong organisational discipline and the ability to produce clear, accurate and decision-ready reporting.

Desirable skills and experience

* Experience of MOD, Defence Digital, secure service delivery or classified programme environments.

What does success look like?

* Subcontractor plans, milestones, dependencies and deliverables are clearly baselined, actively managed and visible to the Programme team.
