Project Manager - Mergers & Acquisition

San Diego, CA 92130, US Remote Temporary
Compensation: $63.34 to $73.34 Hourly

A Management Resources client is seeking a Project Manager for a 3–6-month consulting engagement to support the execution of a complex M& A integration. This individual will drive day-to-day coordination across finance, legal, and operational workstreams, ensuring integration activities remain on track, risks are proactively managed, and key milestones are achieved.

The ideal candidate has experience supporting acquisitions, integrations, carve-outs, or other large-scale cross-functional initiatives and can effectively manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.

Key Responsibilities
Manage and maintain integration project plans, milestones, dependencies, action items, and deadlines across multiple workstreams.
Coordinate and facilitate recurring status meetings, issue resolution discussions, and stakeholder updates.
Monitor project risks, escalate potential delays, and drive accountability to ensure successful execution.
Support finance integration activities including:
General ledger and chart of accounts alignment
Purchase accounting and opening balance sheet activities
Budgeting, forecasting, and synergy tracking
Month-end close readiness
Coordinate ERP, payroll, billing, and other system integration efforts, including data migration and testing milestones.
Track integration costs and maintain project budget reporting.
Prepare executive-level status reports, dashboards, and presentations for leadership teams.
Assist with legal integration activities, including contract tracking, consent management, entity alignment, and integration checklists.
Ensure smooth transition of responsibilities from integration teams to ongoing business operations.
Qualifications
Experience in project management, accounting, finance, FP& A, consulting, or a related field.
Prior involvement in M& A integrations, acquisitions, carve-outs, or other complex transformation initiatives.
Strong understanding of finance and accounting processes, including financial close, budgeting/forecasting, and financial systems.
Proven ability to manage project plans, action-item logs, risk registers, and executive reporting.
Advanced Excel skills and experience with project management tools such as Smartsheet, MS Project, Asana, Monday.com, or similar platforms.
Excellent communication, organizational, and stakeholder management skills.
Ability to operate independently, manage competing priorities, and drive initiatives forward in ambiguous environments.
Exposure to legal, contract management, or corporate governance processes is a plus.
Desired Experience
ERP or financial systems integration experience.
Post-acquisition integration or transformation project leadership.
Experience working with executive leadership, finance teams, and cross-functional stakeholders.
Success Measures
Integration milestones completed on schedule.
Risks identified and addressed proactively.
Seamless coordination across finance, legal, operational, and systems workstreams.
Minimal disruption to day-to-day business operations during the integration process.
Clear visibility, communication, and accountability throughout the integration lifecycle.

Qualifications:

• 10+ years of experience in project management, finance, accounting, consulting, or a related business discipline.
• Demonstrated background supporting mergers, acquisitions, carve-outs, or other enterprise-wide transformation initiatives.
• Strong knowledge of accounting and finance operations, including monthly close activities, budgeting, forecasting, and balance sheet processes.
• Proven ability to manage project plans, issue logs, risk trackers, action registers, and executive-level reporting.
• Advanced proficiency in Excel and hands-on experience with project management platforms such as Smartsheet, Project, Asana, or comparable tools.
• Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills, with the ability to coordinate effectively across finance, legal, operations, and leadership teams.
• Ability to work independently, prioritize competing demands, and move initiatives forward in environments with evolving requirements.
• Experience with legal coordination, contract tracking, corporate governance processes, or financial systems integration is a plus.

Compensation

$63.34-$73.34 Hourly
