Property Tax Consultant
Responsibilities:
• Advise the product team on how Florida residential property tax appeal rules are applied in practice, translating statutory and procedural requirements into usable product guidance.
• Explain operational differences among high-volume Florida counties, including how local property appraiser offices and value adjustment boards may vary in their processes and expectations.
• Guide the design of filing workflows by outlining key deadlines, notice timing, required forms, submission methods, and payment-related compliance steps.
• Help structure hearing preparation features that reflect successful appeal strategies, including evidence timing, comparable property analysis, and property condition arguments.
• Review customer and backend authorization flows to identify legal or procedural issues before release to production.
• Spot potential process risks and edge cases by drawing on extensive experience across a large number of residential parcels and appeal scenarios.
• Collaborate with internal stakeholders to refine filing logic and user pathways so the product aligns with actual appeal practices in Florida.
• Provide ongoing subject matter insight on petition handling and adjudicative expectations relevant to special magistrate proceedings.
Qualifications:
• At least 3 years of experience, including 5+ years of direct hands-on Florida residential property tax appeal filing experience.• Demonstrated personal experience filing petitions, arguing appeals, or adjudicating matters in Florida property tax proceedings.
• Strong working knowledge of property tax appeals, petitions, legal forms, legal correspondence, and appraisal-related documentation.
• Deep familiarity with Florida appeal procedures, filing deadlines, evidence exchange requirements, and hearing practices.
• Ability to distinguish county-level procedural differences without relying solely on written guidance.
• Experience managing high-volume appeal work across numerous parcels and recognizing procedural issues before they escalate.
• No active involvement advising another company that develops consumer property tax appeal software.
• Florida-based experience is strongly preferred due to the county-specific nature of the work.
Compensation
