Sr. Accountant

We are looking for an experienced Sr. Accountant to join a growing organization in Minneapolis, Minnesota on a Long-term Contract basis. This role will support core accounting operations, including financial close, ledger accuracy, cash activity, and asset-related reporting. The ideal candidate brings strong technical accounting knowledge, works well in a fast-paced setting, and can manage multiple priorities while maintaining precision and compliance.

Responsibilities:
• Lead key tasks within the monthly close cycle, including preparing and recording journal entries to ensure timely and accurate financial results.
• Reconcile general ledger and balance sheet accounts, investigate variances, and resolve outstanding issues with attention to detail.
• Support the preparation of financial reports and maintain accounting documentation that reflects complete and accurate records.
• Assist with audit support by organizing schedules, providing requested backup, and helping address accounting-related inquiries.
• Oversee weekly payment activity and contribute to short-range cash forecasting by tracking balances and upcoming disbursements.
• Maintain fixed asset records, monitor asset additions and depreciation, and ensure asset data is properly reflected in the subledger.
• Coordinate accounting for capital projects, including tracking assets under construction and placing completed items into service when appropriate.
• Manage lease accounting records and prepare related entries, reconciliations, and reporting in accordance with applicable accounting guidance.
• Partner with finance and operational stakeholders to support cash management, asset tracking, and ongoing accounting process improvements.

Qualifications:

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related discipline.
• At least 5 years of progressive accounting experience, preferably within manufacturing, consumer products, or a similarly fast-moving environment.
• Strong background in month-end close, general ledger maintenance, journal entries, and account reconciliations.
• Experience with fixed asset accounting, including asset additions, depreciation, subledger maintenance, and capital project tracking.
• Familiarity with treasury support activities such as cash positioning, disbursement planning, and short-term cash forecasting.
• Advanced Microsoft Excel skills, including the ability to work with complex spreadsheets, lookups, and pivot tables.
• Experience using accounting and lease management systems; exposure to platforms such as Sage, Canopy, or LeaseQuery is highly preferred.
• Proven analytical, organizational, and problem-solving abilities with the capacity to manage deadlines and multiple priorities effectively.

Compensation

$40.00-$45.00 Hourly
