Robert Half is seeking a highly skilled Healthcare Procurement Counsel with deep expertise in healthcare, technology, and complex commercial contracting. In this role, you will drive enterprise-wide procurement strategy and serve as a trusted legal advisor to both operational leadership and the broader legal team.

This role is ideal for an attorney who thrives in fast-paced, collaborative environments and has hands-on experience negotiating sophisticated technology, data, clinical, and vendor agreements — particularly within healthcare systems, health plans, research organizations, or public-private partnerships.

Schedule: Hybrid — 4 Days Onsite (Mon–Thurs), Remote on Fridays

Duration: 6+ Months (Potential Extension)

Why This Role Stands Out

You will be at the center of the organization’s most important procurements, working across IT, clinical operations, pharmacy, supply chain, medical devices, and digital health to ensure compliant, efficient, and strategically aligned contracting. This is a highly visible position that blends procurement, regulatory, technology, and healthcare operations.

Key Responsibilities

Strategic Legal Support

  • Provide expert legal counsel on procurement matters including vendor agreements, IT and SaaS contracts, clinical and operational procurements, and supply chain transactions.
  • Advise on regulatory considerations impacting purchasing, including HIPAA, FDA compliance, CMS rules, data privacy, and NYC procurement laws.

 Contract Drafting & Negotiation

  • Draft, review, and negotiate a wide variety of procurement agreements, such as:
  • SaaS and cloud-based technology contracts
  • Cybersecurity and data‑sharing agreements
  • Professional services and consulting agreements
  • Clinical and medical technology procurements
  • Drive contract strategy to ensure alignment with organizational and operational priorities.

 Risk, Compliance & Policy Development

  • Identify and mitigate legal and operational risks throughout the procurement lifecycle.
  • Support development, enhancement, and implementation of internal procurement policies and workflows.
  • Promote best practices in contract governance, vendor management, and regulatory compliance.

 Cross‑Functional Collaboration

  • Partner closely with internal teams—including IT, finance, clinical operations, pharmacy, and supply chain—to deliver clear, practical legal guidance.
  • Provide responsive, solutions-oriented support to senior leadership and stakeholders.

Qualifications:

Qualifications

  • Juris Doctor (JD) from an accredited law school.
  • Active NY State Bar license (required).
  • 3–7 years of commercial contracting experience, ideally in healthcare, life sciences, or health IT.
  • Strong working knowledge of HIPAA, FDA, CMS, data privacy, and healthcare regulatory frameworks.
  • Proven success negotiating complex procurement and vendor agreements.
  • Ability to operate in a fast‑paced, collaborative, and stakeholder‑facing environment.
  • Experience in public sector or quasi-public procurement highly preferred.
  • Excellent written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills.
  • Leadership experience or the ability to mentor junior legal staff a plus.

Preferred Background

  • Prior experience working in healthcare provider, health plan, nonprofit health system, or research institution environments.
