An established, fast-growing wealth management firm is seeking a Tax Supervisor to join its Tax and Estate Planning team. This role is ideal for an experienced tax professional who enjoys working directly with high-net-worth clients and collaborating with senior CPAs, estate planning professionals, and financial advisors. The position offers broad exposure to individual, trust, estate, and entity taxation, as well as advanced tax planning and wealth management strategies.
Responsibilities
The Tax Supervisor will take ownership of tax planning, compliance, and advisory initiatives while partnering closely with senior professionals across the firm.
Tax & Planning
- Oversee and review tax preparation and compliance for high-net-worth individuals, trusts, estates, partnerships, and related entities.
- Develop and review federal and state tax projections and identify tax planning opportunities.
- Assist with advanced tax planning strategies, including income tax, estate, trust, and entity structure considerations.
- Analyze complex tax issues and provide practical recommendations to clients and internal stakeholders.
- Review estate and trust structures and related tax implications.
- Conduct tax research and stay current on relevant federal and state tax legislation.
- Work closely with CPAs, attorneys, financial planners, and investment professionals to integrate tax strategies into broader wealth planning.
- Participate in client meetings and communicate complex tax concepts clearly and professionally.
- Lead and support ad-hoc tax and financial planning projects.
Team & Workflow Management
- Review work prepared by junior team members and provide technical guidance and mentorship.
- Help manage tax deadlines, workflow, and deliverables across multiple client engagements.
- Serve as a resource to the broader advisory team on tax-related matters.
- Prepare and review client-ready analyses, reports, and presentations.
- Coordinate with internal teams to ensure accurate and timely execution of client deliverables.
- Take ownership of complex, time-sensitive projects and help drive them through completion.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, Economics, Business, or a related field.
- CPA license strongly preferred; EA or JD also considered.
- 5+ years of progressive tax experience, preferably serving high-net-worth individuals, trusts, estates, partnerships, or closely held entities.
- Strong understanding of federal and state individual and entity taxation.
- Experience with tax preparation and research software; advanced Excel skills are a plus.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities with exceptional attention to detail.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to interact professionally with high-net-worth clients and senior stakeholders.
- Demonstrated ability to manage multiple priorities and meet demanding deadlines.
- Strong work ethic, ownership mentality, and ability to operate effectively in a fast-paced, high-expectation environment.
- Experience mentoring or reviewing the work of junior tax professionals is preferred.
