Network Security Engineer

We are working with a healthcare organization seeking a senior-level network security professional to design, secure, and optimize complex hybrid network environments. The role focuses on Fortinet technologies, Azure network security, secure connectivity, automation, and strategic network architecture within a highly regulated environment.

POSITION TITLE: Senior Network Security Engineer

LOCATION: Dallas, TX (Hybrid/Remote)

SALARY: $130,000 - $155,000

RESPONSIBILITIES

• Design, implement, and support secure network infrastructure across on-premises and Azure environments, including firewalls, routing, switching, VPNs, and network segmentation.
• Administer and optimize the Fortinet security ecosystem, including FortiGate, FortiManager, FortiAnalyzer, SD-WAN, FortiSwitch, and FortiAP solutions, while managing upgrades, security patches, and platform health.
• Configure and maintain Azure network security controls, including Network Security Groups (NSGs), Azure Firewall, VPN Gateways, ExpressRoute, and Private Endpoints to support secure hybrid connectivity.
• Automate network security operations and configuration management using tools such as Python, PowerShell, Terraform, Ansible, and REST APIs to improve efficiency and consistency.
• Monitor network performance and security events, troubleshoot complex connectivity and security issues, maintain network architecture documentation, and provide technical guidance to engineering team members.

Qualifications:

REQUIREMENTS

• 7+ years of experience in network security engineering, network engineering, or related infrastructure security roles.
• 5+ years of hands-on experience supporting Fortinet technologies, including FortiGate, FortiManager, FortiAnalyzer, EMS, and SD-WAN solutions.
• Strong experience implementing and managing Azure networking and network security controls within hybrid cloud environments.
• Expertise with firewalls, VPN technologies, routing protocols, network segmentation, Zero Trust networking, and secure remote access solutions.
• Experience with network monitoring, network detection and response technologies, and integrating network telemetry with enterprise security platforms.
• Hands-on experience using Python and/or PowerShell to automate network and security administration tasks; experience with Terraform or Ansible is highly preferred.
• Advanced understanding of networking protocols and services including TCP/IP, DNS, TLS, BGP, OSPF, and secure network architecture principles.

Preferred Certifications: Fortinet NSE/FCX certifications, CCNP Security, AZ-500, or equivalent advanced network security certifications.
