Certified Payroll

Robert Half is looking for a Certified Payroll candidate who has strong experience processing payroll and ensuring compliance with federal, state, and local payroll regulations. The ideal candidate will be detail-oriented, organized, and comfortable handling high-volume payroll while maintaining accurate employee records and resolving payroll discrepancies.

Key Responsibilities

• Process full-cycle payroll accurately and timely.
• Prepare and maintain certified payroll reports.
• Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local payroll regulations.
• Review timecards, wage rates, deductions, and employee classifications.
• Maintain accurate payroll records and documentation.
• Research and resolve payroll discrepancies and employee inquiries.
• Coordinate payroll tax filings, reporting, and related documentation.
• Work closely with HR, accounting, and management to ensure payroll accuracy.
• Support audits and provide payroll documentation as needed.
• Stay current on changes to payroll laws, regulations, and prevailing wage requirements.

Qualifications:

Ideal Requirements

• 3+ years of payroll experience, with certified payroll experience strongly preferred
• Experience with prevailing wage / union payroll and government or public works projects
• Strong knowledge of federal, state, and local payroll regulations
• Experience preparing certified payroll reports and compliance documentation
• Strong understanding of payroll taxes, deductions, garnishments, and wage classifications
• High attention to detail and accuracy
• Strong Excel and payroll software skills
• Ability to meet strict payroll deadlines and manage multiple priorities
• Strong communication and problem-solving skills
• CPP (Certified Payroll Professional) certification preferred, but not required
• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Business, or related field preferred
