Junior Financial Analyst

A growing biotech company in Carlsbad is looking for a Junior Financial Analyst to join its Finance team. This is an excellent opportunity for someone early in their career who enjoys working with numbers, building reports, and turning financial information into something the business can actually use.

You'll work alongside experienced Finance and Accounting professionals while gaining exposure to budgeting, forecasting, expense analysis, and management reporting. The ideal candidate is curious, analytical, and eager to learn.

Responsibilities

• Assist with monthly financial reporting and analysis
• Maintain recurring financial reports and dashboards
• Analyze departmental expenses and identify unusual variances
• Assist with budgeting and forecasting activities
• Gather financial information from Accounting and Operations teams
• Prepare Excel-based financial models and schedules
• Track spending against department budgets
• Assist with month-end reporting and data validation
• Research discrepancies and communicate findings to the Finance team
• Support ad hoc financial analysis and special projects

Qualifications:

• Bachelor's degree in Finance, Accounting, Economics, or related field
• 0–2 years of financial analysis, accounting, or business experience
• Strong Microsoft Excel skills
• Comfortable working with large data sets
• Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities
• Excellent attention to detail
• Ability to communicate financial information clearly
• Internship or academic experience in finance is a plus
