Description:

The Semmes Murphey Clinic's mission is to deliver the best care for people suffering from neurological illness while advancing the field of neuroscience. 


Our Ambulatory Surgery Center (ASC) is looking for a full-time Registered Nurse (RN). In this role, you will work closely with a comprehensive team to provide personalized patient care in pre and post operative and or procedural setting. Our ASC is open Monday to Friday and hours in this role are approximately 6:45 am - 3:00 pm. We are closed on the weekends and holidays. 


Key Responsibilities Include: 

  • Documents nursing history and physical assessment for assigned patients 
  • Prepares rooms, sterile instruments, equipment and supplies  
  • Maintains awareness of comfort and safety needs of patient 
  • Takes temperature, pulse, blood pressure, and other vital signs to detect deviations from normal and assess condition of patient 
  • Explains procedures and treatments to patients to gain cooperation, understanding and allay apprehension 
  • Administers prescribed medications and treatments in accordance with approved nursing techniques 
  • Initiates a patient education plan according to the individualized needs of the patient, as prescribed by the physician and/or surgery center policy, including patient and family instruction 
Requirements:

Minimum:

  • Associates degree from an accredited school of nursing 
  • One (1) year of experience 
  • Active RN license in TN or compact 
  • BLS Certification up to date

Preferred

  • ACLS Certification 
  • Ambulatory Surgery Center experience 

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities 

  • Proficient computer skills to process, store and retrieve health information; knowledge of data entry and coding software
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office (Excel, Outlook, Word), electronic medical records (EMR) and medical practice software
  • Strong communication skills, both oral and written
  • Ability to communicate effectively and professionally with patients, visitors, physicians, and coworkers
  • Ability to comprehend and interpret verbal orders and direction
  • Excellent organizational skills with attention to detail
  • Can work with focused concentration
  • Ability to make frequent judgments and respond to routine problems
