Position Description
Prepares, examines, and analyzes chromosomes found in biological specimens such as amniotic fluids, bone marrow, and blood, to aid in diagnosis and treatment of genetic diseases. Will also perform advanced technical duties in the diagnostic study of cells for the purpose of recognition and classification. Assists in the training of subordinate personnel. Prepares and interprets reports, records, forms and other correspondence.

Required Qualifications
Bachelor's degree from with a major in Biology, Microbiology or related field; one year of laboratory experience.
Preferred Qualifications
2 years of related experience in a clinical setting.

Major/Essential Functions
- Chromosome: Perform analysis of chromosomes using Leica Cytovision software, which includes image analysis and Karyograms for each case on the imaging system and analyzes them for the presence of chromosomal defects.
- FISH: Perform fluorescent microscopy, capturing using Leica Cytovision software, paperwork, flex images, Excel entries for cut-out arrays: Perform analysis using Cytosure software. Database and literature search.
- Review results in Review test requisitions to gather pertinent details for analysis.
- Summarize test results utilizing ISCN nomenclature and interpret results in the patient record system. Distinguish between normal and abnormal test results.
Required Qualifications
