Accounts Payable Clerk

We are looking for a detail-oriented Accounts Payable Clerk to join a manufacturing organization in Batavia, Illinois in a contract capacity with potential for a permanent position. This role focuses on high-volume invoice processing, purchase order review, and day-to-day support for core payable activities while working closely with the accounting team. The ideal candidate brings prior accounts payable experience, sound accuracy with financial data, and a willingness to assist with limited accounts receivable tasks as needed.

Responsibilities:

• Process a steady volume of vendor invoices each day, confirming details are accurate before posting transactions.

• Examine purchase orders and supporting documentation to ensure invoice charges align with approved records.

• Manage both paper-based and electronically submitted invoices using internal processing tools and Oracle accounting software.

• Enter invoices that are not tied to purchase orders and route items through the appropriate approval workflow.

• Support account reconciliation activities and assist with check run preparation as part of the payable cycle.

• Maintain organized and accurate financial records to help ensure timely payments and proper documentation.

• Provide occasional support with accounts receivable follow-up and collections when business needs require it.

• Work onsite during a part-time schedule of approximately 25 to 30 hours per week across four or five weekdays.

Qualifications:

• At least 1 year of experience in accounts payable, accounts receivable, or a closely related accounting support role.

• Practical knowledge of invoice review, coding, and processing in a business environment.

• Ability to compare invoices against purchase orders and identify discrepancies with strong attention to detail.

• Familiarity with Oracle or another accounting system; training will be provided on company-specific tools.

• Basic Excel skills and comfort working with financial information in spreadsheets.

• Experience supporting check runs, reconciliations, or other routine accounting operations.

• Willingness to work in an onsite, part-time schedule and contribute flexibly to both AP and limited AR tasks.

The salary range for this position is $23.00 to $25.00 an hour. Benefits available to contract/temporary professionals, include medical, vision, dental, and life and disability insurance.
