Staff Accountant

We are looking for a Staff Accountant to join a growing team in South Carolina. This contract-to-permanent opportunity is ideal for an accounting specialist with hands-on experience supporting day-to-day financial operations and maintaining accurate records. The role offers the chance to contribute across core accounting functions while working in a collaborative environment that values accuracy, organization, and follow-through.

Responsibilities:
• Prepare and post journal entries to ensure financial transactions are recorded accurately and on time.
• Maintain the general ledger by reviewing account activity, researching discrepancies, and supporting month-end close processes.
• Reconcile bank statements and balance sheet accounts to verify accuracy and resolve variances promptly.
• Process payroll activities with careful attention to compliance, timing, and recordkeeping requirements.
• Manage sales tax reporting and filings by gathering data, reviewing calculations, and meeting submission deadlines.
• Assist with bookkeeping and routine accounting tasks that support the overall financial health of the organization.
• Help identify and correct accounting issues by analyzing supporting documentation and communicating findings clearly.

Qualifications:

• At least 2 years of accounting or bookkeeping experience in a business environment that requires attention to detail.

• Working knowledge of journal entries, general ledger maintenance, and account reconciliation.

• Experience handling payroll processes and related financial documentation.

• Strong attention to detail with the ability to manage multiple priorities accurately.

• Proficiency with accounting systems and standard business software such as spreadsheets and email.

• Clear communication skills and a dependable, organized approach to daily work.

Compensation

$26.13-$30.25 Hourly
