Payroll Tax Analyst
Responsibilities:
• Oversee payroll tax compliance activities at the federal, state, and local levels for employees working across numerous jurisdictions.
• Prepare and validate quarterly and year-end payroll tax reports, including Form 941, Form 940, W-2 reporting, and applicable state filings.
• Act as the primary internal resource for payroll tax matters by advising cross-functional teams on requirements, updates, and potential impacts.
• Use payroll platforms and tax compliance tools, including ADP SmartCompliance and related systems, to support accurate filings and reporting.
• Reconcile payroll tax balances, assist with accruals, and coordinate with accounting on general ledger accuracy.
• Research and resolve tax notices, agency inquiries, and audit-related requests in a timely and well-documented manner.
• Maintain organized records and reinforce internal controls that support payroll tax compliance and audit readiness.
• Track legislative and regulatory changes affecting payroll taxes and implement process updates to keep the organization aligned with current requirements.
Qualifications:
• Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, or a related discipline.• At least 10 years of payroll experience with substantial ownership of payroll tax activities.
• Strong understanding of federal, state, and local payroll tax rules and filing requirements.
• Demonstrated success administering payroll taxes in a multi-state environment, ideally covering 25 or more states.
• Hands-on experience with ADP Enterprise, ADP SmartCompliance, or comparable payroll tax systems.
• Proven analytical skills with the ability to reconcile data, identify discrepancies, and resolve issues efficiently.
• Effective communication skills and the ability to work collaboratively with payroll, accounting, HR, and external partners.
Compensation
