Finance Director
Jana Chapman with Robert Half Finance & Accounting is seeking an experienced Finance Director to serve as a senior financial leader for a mission-driven nonprofit organization. Reporting directly to the Chief Executive Officer, this position will play a critical role in shaping financial strategy, partnering with executive leadership, and supporting long-term organizational sustainability.

Responsibilities:
- Serve as the organization's senior finance leader and trusted advisor to the CEO, executive team, and Board on financial strategy, organizational performance, and long-range planning.
- Lead annual budgeting, forecasting, and financial planning activities while helping leadership navigate changing funding environments and strategic priorities.
- Oversee all aspects of nonprofit accounting, financial reporting, grant compliance, and financial operations.
- Prepare and present financial reports, forecasts, and recommendations to executive leadership, Finance Committees, and Board members.
- Monitor organizational cash flow, liquidity, and financial performance to support informed decision-making and long-term sustainability.
- Ensure compliance with nonprofit accounting standards, grant and funding requirements, regulatory obligations, and audit requirements.
- Provide leadership for the finance team, fostering collaboration, professional development, accountability, and operational excellence.
- Evaluate business opportunities, financial risks, and resource allocation decisions to support organizational growth and mission impact.
- Maintain strong internal controls, policies, and financial systems to ensure accurate reporting and sound fiscal management.
- Partner with external auditors, funding agencies, financial institutions, and other key stakeholders.

Qualifications:
• 10+ years of progressive finance and accounting experience, including senior leadership responsibility.• Demonstrated background in nonprofit accounting, including familiarity with restricted funding, grant budgeting, and compliance requirements.
• Strong command of annual budgeting, financial reporting, month-end close, and cash flow forecasting.
• Experience managing external audits, including Single Audit processes within a nonprofit environment.
• Ability to present financial information clearly to executive leadership, finance committees, and boards of directors.
• Knowledge of internal controls, general ledger oversight, account reconciliations, and financial policy development.
• Proven ability to partner cross-functionally with operational and program leaders to support strategic planning and performance measurement.
Compensation
