Buyer
Responsibilities:
• Source raw materials, machined parts, tooling, production supplies, and outside services required for daily manufacturing needs.
• Create, track, and maintain purchase orders within the company’s ERP platform to ensure accurate and timely procurement activity.
• Evaluate supplier performance by reviewing quality results, on-time delivery, pricing, and overall service responsiveness.
• Lead commercial discussions with vendors to improve costs, payment terms, lead times, and longer-term supply arrangements.
• Proactively follow up on urgent orders and address shortages or shipment delays before they disrupt production schedules.
• Collaborate with engineering teams on new product introductions, supplier selection, and sourcing plans for new components.
• Partner with planning and production to align purchasing activity with inventory targets while reducing unnecessary excess stock.
• Review quotations and compare sourcing options based on total value, product quality, lead time, and supply risk.
• Maintain accurate purchasing data, including supplier records, pricing details, and lead times, while supporting inventory accuracy and continuous improvement efforts.
• Build effective relationships with domestic and international suppliers and stay informed on market conditions, material availability, and supply chain risk factors.
Qualifications:
• Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain, Business, Operations, Engineering, or a related discipline is preferred.• At least 3 years of purchasing or procurement experience within a manufacturing environment.
• Background sourcing manufactured components, metals, tooling, or other industrial products is preferred.
• Demonstrated ability to negotiate effectively and manage supplier relationships successfully.
• Experience working with ERP or MRP systems; NetSuite experience is highly preferred.
• Strong Excel skills with the ability to interpret purchasing, inventory, and supplier data.
• Excellent organizational and communication skills, with the ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-moving setting.
• Self-directed problem solver with strong attention to detail; experience in precision manufacturing sectors or procurement certifications is a plus.
