Health Information Clerk

Position Summary

Robert Half is seeking an experienced Health Information Clerk for an onsite in Pheonix, AZ to support the accuracy, integrity, and confidentiality of patient medical records. The ideal candidate will have prior experience working with health information management, medical records, electronic medical record (EMR) systems, and HIPAA regulations in a healthcare setting.

Key Responsibilities

• Maintain, organize, and update patient medical records in accordance with established policies and procedures.
• Retrieve, scan, index, and file medical documents accurately into electronic health record (EHR/EMR) systems.
• Process requests for medical records while ensuring compliance with HIPAA and privacy regulations.
• Verify patient information for completeness and accuracy.
• Track, monitor, and reconcile medical record deficiencies.
• Communicate with providers, clinical staff, patients, and outside agencies regarding record requests and documentation needs.
• Ensure proper retention, storage, and security of confidential health information.
• Assist with audits, quality reviews, and other health information management activities.

Qualifications:

Qualifications

• Previous experience as a Health Information Clerk, Medical Records Clerk, Health Information Specialist, or similar healthcare administrative role required.
• Knowledge of medical terminology, healthcare documentation, and HIPAA regulations.
• Experience working with EMR/EHR systems such as Epic, Cerner, Meditech, or similar platforms.
• Strong attention to detail and accuracy when handling sensitive information.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite and data entry.
• Excellent organizational, communication, and customer service skills.
• Ability to prioritize tasks and work independently in a fast-paced healthcare environment.
