Registered Professional Land Surveyor

Forge ahead with WSB. We are looking for a Registered Professional Land Surveyor provides technical leadership and professional oversight for land surveying projects, ensuring compliance with applicable statutes, regulations, and professional standards. This role manages survey projects from planning through final deliverables, supports client relationships, and collaborates with field and office teams to deliver accurate boundary, topographic, ALTA/NSPS, construction, and development-related surveys. The position serves as the licensed professional responsible for reviewing, certifying, and signing survey documents and related deliverables.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Manage and oversee land surveying projects to ensure quality, schedule, budget, and client expectations are achieved.
  • Serve as the Professional Land Surveyor of record for assigned projects and provide professional review, certification, and approval of survey deliverables.
  • Plan, coordinate, and direct boundary, topographic, ALTA/NSPS, right-of-way, easement, and construction surveys.
  • Interpret deeds, plats, title commitments, legal descriptions, easement documents, and other land records to establish property boundaries and ownership interests.
  • Prepare, review, and certify subdivision plats, boundary surveys, ALTA/NSPS surveys, legal descriptions, easements, and survey reports in accordance with applicable state statutes and industry standards.
  • Review and analyze field data, survey calculations, and mapping products to ensure accuracy and completeness.
  • Coordinate project activities with project managers, engineers, planners, governmental agencies, contractors, developers, utility providers, and other stakeholders.
  • Develop project scopes, fee estimates, schedules, and proposals for surveying services.
  • Mentor and provide technical guidance to survey technicians, crew chiefs, field personnel, and other survey staff.
  • Support business development activities by maintaining existing client relationships and identifying opportunities for additional services.
  • Ensure compliance with company safety policies and applicable regulatory requirements.
  • Maintain knowledge of evolving surveying technology, regulations, and professional best practices.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
  • May remain in a stationary position for extended periods

Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Land Surveying, Geomatics, Civil Engineering Technology, or a related field preferred.
  • Equivalent combination of education and relevant surveying experience may be considered.
  • Minimum of 5 years of progressive land surveying experience.
  • Experience managing boundary, ALTA/NSPS, topographic, subdivision, and construction surveying projects.
  • Demonstrated experience reviewing legal descriptions, plats, deeds, title commitments, and survey-related documentation.
  • Proven ability to manage multiple projects concurrently while maintaining schedule and budget objectives.
  • Experience leading and mentoring technical and field staff preferred.
  • Experience working with transportation, municipal, commercial, residential, or land development projects preferred.
  • Professional Land Surveyor (PLS) or Registered Professional Land Surveyor license required.
  • Multi-state licensure or the ability to obtain additional state licensure through reciprocity preferred.
  • Possession of a valid driver's license with a clean driving record and the ability to operate a motor vehicle is required
  • Microsoft Suite Products (e.g., Outlook, Excel, Word, PowerPoint, SharePoint, OneDrive, etc.).
  • Proficiency with AutoCAD Civil 3D, MicroStation, or similar survey drafting and design software.
  • Experience with survey data collection and processing software.
  • Knowledge of GPS, GNSS, Total Station, robotic instrumentation, and related survey technologies.
  • Experience with GIS applications and 3D modeling software preferred.
  • Work is primarily performed in an office environment with standard office equipment.
  • May berequiredto work onsite at a WSB office, as needed,up to five days per week,as required by the project, client, or hiring manager.
  • Travel or fieldvisits may berequiredto support project needs or stakeholder collaboration.
  • Travel may berequired.
  • Reliable transportation required and the ability to travel daily within assigned territory.
  • Position may support projects across multiple geographic regions and business lines.
