Position Summary
CAS is seeking a Family Advocacy Nurse (FAN) to join the installation’s multidisciplinary Family Advocacy Program (FAP) team. The FAN provides comprehensive, home-based prevention and nursing support to military families who are expecting a child or have children under four years of age, with a primary focus on preventing child and partner maltreatment.
This is a highly field-oriented position focused on home visitation, maternal and child health, family education, prevention, and case management. The FAN serves as the primary case manager for New Parent Support Program (NPSP) clients and works closely with military families, healthcare providers, and FAP professionals.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide comprehensive, home-based nursing and prevention services through the New Parent Support Program (NPSP).Conduct home visits for NPSP families and provide nursing intervention as required by maltreatment treatment plans.Prioritize home visits for high-need and low-need NPSP families based on clinical and program requirements.Provide case management for NPSP clients, including assessment, coordination, monitoring, education, and follow-up.Support families who are expecting a child or have children under four years of age.Provide anticipatory guidance and education on:Child growth and developmentMaternal and child healthNutritionParentingAttachment and bondingFamily health and wellnessFamily violence dynamicsProblem-solving and communicationBereavement and adjustment
Required Qualifications

Bachelor's degree in Nursing (BSN) from an accredited institution.U.S. Registered Nurse (RN) with a current, unrestricted U.S. state nursing license.License must be maintained in good standing and on file with the supporting Military Treatment Facility (MTF).Must meet applicable American Nurses Association (ANA) standards and MTF nursing standards of care.No pending adverse action or investigation by a State Nursing Board.Minimum two (2) years of professional nursing experience in one or more of the following areas:Community Health NursingMaternal/Child Health NursingChild AbuseDomestic Abuse (DA)
Highly Preferred Experience

Home visitation experience, particularly with new or expectant parents.Experience providing maternal and child health services in the home or community.Experience working with military families.Experience with child abuse, domestic violence, family advocacy, or maltreatment prevention.Experience with New Parent Support Programs (NPSP) or similar family-support programs.Experience providing family education, parenting education, or health promotion.Experience with nursing case management and multidisciplinary teams.
