Dispatcher

We are looking for a dependable Dispatcher to support daily student transportation operations in New Jersey. This contract position has the potential to become permanent and plays a key role in keeping routes running smoothly by coordinating driver assignments, communicating service updates, and responding quickly to changing conditions throughout the day. The ideal candidate is organized, calm under pressure, and comfortable managing multiple priorities in a fast-paced transport environment.

Responsibilities:
• Direct daily bus coverage by assigning drivers for scheduled routes, activity trips, and other transportation needs.
• Oversee route progress in real time and provide timely guidance to drivers when issues arise on the road.
• Share important service information, including delays, route adjustments, and urgent updates, with drivers, school contacts, and leadership.
• Monitor staffing levels each day, track attendance, and secure replacement coverage when absences or schedule changes occur.
• Keep transportation records up to date, including route details, driver allocations, incident documentation, and operating logs.
• Address questions and concerns from schools, parents, and transportation staff with professionalism and clear communication.
• Support route design and daily service planning while helping maintain adherence to operating procedures and transportation standards.
• Partner with operations, maintenance, and management teams to reduce interruptions and maintain dependable service.
• Make informed decisions during unexpected events to help limit delays and maintain safe, efficient transportation operations.

Qualifications:

• Prior experience in dispatch, transportation, logistics, operations, customer service, or a related field is preferred.
• Strong verbal and written communication skills with the ability to handle problems effectively.
• Ability to manage competing tasks and stay organized in a high-volume work environment.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office and familiarity with dispatch or transportation management systems.
• High attention to detail and solid recordkeeping skills.
• Ability to remain composed, attentive to detail, and solution-oriented during time-sensitive situations.
• High school diploma or equivalent is required.
• Dependable attendance and flexibility to work regular hours, overtime, and early starts during peak periods as needed.

Compensation

$27.71-$32.09 Hourly
