Sr. Accountant

Seattle, WA 98101, US Remote Temporary
Compensation: $45 to $50 Hourly

We are looking for an experienced Sr. Accountant to support college-related financial operations in Seattle, Washington. This Long-term Contract position is well suited for a self-directed, detail-oriented accountant with a strong background in education or government environments and a track record of producing accurate reconciliations and supporting audit activity. The role will contribute to month-end processes, general ledger accuracy, and financial reporting while partnering with stakeholders across the organization.

Responsibilities:
• Manage month-end close activities, ensuring entries are recorded accurately and deadlines are met.
• Prepare and review journal entries and maintain the integrity of general ledger balances.
• Perform detailed account and bank reconciliations, researching and resolving discrepancies in a timely manner.
• Assist with financial statement audit preparation by organizing schedules, supporting documentation, and responding to audit requests.
• Support accounting operations tied to college or public-sector funds with attention to compliance and reporting standards.
• Analyze financial data and prepare reconciled reports for leadership and internal stakeholders.
• Work independently to identify issues, recommend solutions, and maintain consistent accounting processes.
• Utilize reporting tools and available systems, including ctcLink and Legacy when applicable, to gather data and support accounting activities.

Qualifications:

• 3+ years of accounting experience, including work in a senior-level or independently managed accounting capacity.
• Background in education, higher education, government, or other public-sector accounting environments.
• Hands-on experience with month-end close, general ledger management, and journal entry preparation.
• Strong ability to complete account reconciliations and bank reconciliations with a high degree of accuracy.
• Experience supporting financial statement audits and preparing audit-ready documentation.
• Self-starter who can prioritize responsibilities and work effectively with limited supervision.
• Proficiency in accounting systems and financial reporting tools; familiarity with Washington state college systems, ctcLink, or Legacy is helpful but not required.

Compensation

$45.00-$50.00 Hourly
