VP of Finance
We are looking for an experienced finance leader to provide steady oversight during a critical period of growth for a school-focused food service and manufacturing business in Hayward, California. This Long-term Contract position will guide accounting and finance operations, maintain reliable reporting, and support leadership with clear visibility into financial performance and cash flow. The role is ideal for someone who can step in quickly, manage day-to-day execution, and help a scaling organization maintain strong financial discipline.
Responsibilities:
• Lead the monthly close and deliver accurate financial statements in accordance with applicable reporting standards and internal expectations.
• Direct the day-to-day work of the finance and accounting team, including accounts receivable, accounts payable, general ledger activity, and payroll oversight.
• Monitor billing, collections, and vendor disbursements to help ensure healthy working capital as transaction volume increases.
• Prepare cash flow projections and provide finance leadership with timely insight into liquidity, operating trends, and key business risks.
• Review financial results for covenant compliance and support reporting needs related to lenders, owners, and other stakeholders.
• Strengthen finance processes and controls to support continued expansion in a fast-moving operating environment.
• Oversee budgeting support and month-end activities to maintain consistency, accuracy, and accountability across the finance function.
• Help complete the ongoing MRP rollout with a focus on dependable inventory valuation, cost tracking, and financial reporting integrity.
Qualifications:
• Proven experience in a senior finance, controllership, or executive accounting role with responsibility for financial reporting and close processes.• Strong background in cash flow forecasting, budgeting, and overall finance leadership within an operating business.
• Experience managing teams responsible for accounts receivable, accounts payable, general ledger accounting, and payroll.
• Familiarity with debt covenant monitoring, financial adjustments, and reporting for investors, lenders, or ownership groups.
• Prior experience in manufacturing, food production, light industrial, or other operations-driven environments is strongly preferred.
• Ability to work in a hands-on setting and provide practical leadership while keeping core finance operations running smoothly.
• Knowledge of annual budget development, month-end close, budget processes, and financial reporting best practices.
Compensation
