Accountant
We are looking for an Accountant to support core accounting operations for a Long-term Contract position based in Santa Barbara, California. This opportunity is ideal for an organized individual who can manage day-to-day financial activities with accuracy while helping maintain timely and reliable reporting. The role will contribute across payables, receivables, and general ledger functions in a fast-paced environment that values organization, consistency, and sound financial controls.
Responsibilities:
• Process vendor invoices, verify supporting documentation, and coordinate timely payment activities to maintain accurate accounts payable records.
• Prepare customer billing, record incoming payments, and resolve routine discrepancies to support efficient accounts receivable operations.
• Post journal entries and maintain general ledger accuracy to ensure financial transactions are properly recorded.
• Perform bank reconciliations on a regular basis, investigate variances, and clear outstanding items in a timely manner.
• Assist with month-end accounting tasks by reviewing balances, organizing supporting schedules, and helping close financial records accurately.
• Monitor account activity, identify inconsistencies, and work with internal stakeholders to correct posting issues when needed.
• Maintain organized financial documentation and uphold accounting procedures that support audit readiness and compliance.
• Contribute to process-related accounting updates or operational changes as assigned, including tasks tied to financial workflow adjustments.
Qualifications:
• Experience handling accounts payable activities, including invoice review, coding, and payment processing.• Background in accounts receivable functions such as billing, cash application, and account follow-up.
• Working knowledge of general ledger accounting and journal entry preparation.
• Ability to complete bank reconciliations accurately and investigate unreconciled items.
• Strong attention to detail with the ability to manage multiple accounting tasks and deadlines.
• Proficiency using accounting systems and spreadsheet tools to track, analyze, and report financial data.
• Clear written and verbal communication skills for coordinating with vendors, customers, and internal teams.
