Staff Accountant

We are looking for a detail-oriented Staff Accountant to support accounting operations for a hospitality organization in Minneapolis, Minnesota. This Contract position is ideal for someone with at least 1 year of experience who can contribute to day-to-day financial activities, maintain accurate records, and help ensure tax-related compliance. The role offers an opportunity to work across core accounting functions while supporting reliable financial reporting and ledger integrity.

Responsibilities:
• Prepare and record journal entries to keep financial data accurate and current.
• Maintain and reconcile general ledger accounts, identifying and resolving discrepancies in a timely manner.
• Support corporate tax activities, including gathering documentation and assisting with return preparation.
• Manage sales tax processes by reviewing transactions, calculating obligations, and helping ensure timely filings.
• Assist with month-end and periodic close tasks to support complete and accurate financial reporting.
• Review accounting records for consistency and compliance with internal policies and established standards.
• Collaborate with finance and operational teams to research issues and provide accounting support as needed.

Qualifications:

• At least 1 year of experience in accounting or a related finance role.
• Working knowledge of journal entries, account reconciliations, and general ledger maintenance.
• Familiarity with corporate tax concepts and experience supporting tax return preparation.
• Understanding of sales tax processes and related compliance requirements.
• Strong attention to detail with the ability to manage multiple priorities accurately.
• Proficiency in standard accounting systems and spreadsheet applications.
• Effective communication skills and the ability to work well in a team-oriented environment.

Compensation

$33.25-$38.50 Hourly
