Accounting Manager

We are looking for an experienced Accounting Manager to provide hands-on leadership across core accounting activities for a long-term contract assignment in Birmingham, Alabama. This role will focus on maintaining accurate financial records, overseeing key close activities, and ensuring reconciliations and journal entries are completed with precision and timeliness. The ideal candidate brings strong general ledger expertise and can step in quickly to support ongoing accounting operations in a fast-paced environment.

Responsibilities:
• Lead day-to-day accounting operations with an emphasis on general ledger accuracy and timely financial processing.
• Prepare, review, and post journal entries to support routine and month-end accounting activity.
• Oversee account and bank reconciliations, resolving discrepancies and ensuring supporting documentation is complete.
• Coordinate month-end close tasks to help deliver accurate and timely financial results.
• Support audit-related activities by organizing records, responding to inquiries, and assisting with financial statement audit preparation.
• Monitor accounting workflows and maintain strong internal controls across assigned processes.
• Partner with internal stakeholders to address accounting issues and provide operational support as needed.

Qualifications:

• Proven experience managing or leading general ledger accounting functions.
• Strong background in month-end close procedures and financial reporting support.
• Hands-on expertise with journal entries, account reconciliations, and bank reconciliations.
• Experience assisting with financial statement audits and related documentation requests.
• Ability to work independently, prioritize urgent needs, and contribute immediately in a contract capacity.
• Strong attention to detail and commitment to maintaining accurate financial records.
• Effective communication skills and the ability to collaborate across accounting and business teams.

Compensation

$51.46-$59.59 Hourly
