Senior Accountant – Operational Finance

The organization is specifically interested in someone who can grow with the Finance team and position themselves for future promotional opportunities based on performance and continued development.

Schedule: 4 days in office / 1 day remote

Reports to: Chief Financial Officer (CFO)

Position Overview

The Senior Accountant will be a key member of the Finance team, supporting accounting, financial reporting, payroll, cash management, operational finance, audit activities, and process improvement. This role offers considerably more exposure than a traditional transactional accounting position and will work closely with the CFO and other organizational leaders.

Key Responsibilities

  • Support monthly and year-end close, including journal entries, accruals, account reconciliations, and financial schedules.
  • Analyze general ledger activity and investigate unusual transactions, variances, and reconciliation differences.
  • Assist with financial and management reporting, budget-to-actual analysis, and departmental reporting.
  • Support payroll processing, reconciliations, employee changes, benefits deductions, and related administrative requirements.
  • Manage and reconcile cash, banking, accounts receivable, revenue, and other balance sheet activity.
  • Assist with restricted funds, grants, and related accounting and reporting.
  • Prepare schedules and documentation for the annual financial statement audit and year-end reporting.
  • Provide backup support for accounts payable and other Finance functions.
  • Partner with operational leaders to research financial issues and provide practical solutions.
  • Help strengthen internal controls, documentation, workflows, and accounting procedures.
  • Participate in financial system improvements, automation, and integration initiatives.
  • Identify opportunities to improve reporting, reduce manual processes, and provide better financial information to leadership.
  • Support special projects and additional financial analysis for the CFO.

Qualifications:

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Business, or related field.
  • 3+ years of progressive accounting or financial operations experience; 5+ years preferred.
  • Strong knowledge of GAAP, general ledger accounting, reconciliations, and month-end close.
  • Strong Microsoft Excel and financial systems skills.
  • Experience with payroll, nonprofit accounting, ERP systems, grants, or restricted funds is beneficial.
  • CPA or CPA candidate is a plus.
  • Strong analytical, organizational, communication, and problem-solving skills.




Compensation

$70,000.00-$95,000.00 Yearly
