Accounts Payable Specialist

Robert Half is seeking a detail-oriented Accounts Payable Specialist for our client, a growing company in the Tech industry based in San Diego, CA. This role will be responsible for supporting the day-to-day accounts payable function, ensuring accurate invoice processing, timely payments, and strong vendor relationships in a fast-paced environment.

The ideal candidate will have solid AP experience, strong organizational skills, and the ability to work effectively across departments while maintaining a high level of accuracy.

Key Responsibilities

• Process high-volume vendor invoices accurately and in a timely manner
• Review invoices for proper coding, approvals, and supporting documentation
• Prepare and process check runs, ACH, and wire payments
• Reconcile vendor statements and resolve discrepancies
• Maintain vendor records and assist with new vendor setup
• Respond to vendor inquiries and internal payment-related questions
• Assist with month-end close, including accruals and account reconciliations
• Ensure compliance with company policies and internal controls
• Support 1099 preparation and audit requests as needed
• Help identify and implement process improvements within accounts payable

Qualifications:

• 2+ years of accounts payable experience
• Strong understanding of invoice processing, payment procedures, and reconciliations
• Experience with ERP systems such as NetSuite, SAP, Oracle, or similar platforms
• Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and other standard business software
• Excellent attention to detail, organizational skills, and follow-through
• Strong communication and problem-solving abilities
• Associate or bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance, or related field preferred
• Biotech, life sciences, or regulated industry experience is a plus

Preferred Skills

• Experience in a high-volume invoice processing environment
• Familiarity with month-end close support
• Knowledge of 3-way match and purchase order processes
• Ability to manage competing priorities and deadlines
