Payroll Analyst
Our client, a growing and innovative technology company in San Diego, CA, is seeking a detail-oriented Payroll Analyst to join their team. This role will be responsible for supporting payroll operations, ensuring timely and accurate payroll processing, maintaining compliance with applicable laws and company policies, and assisting with payroll reporting and analysis.
The ideal candidate will have strong payroll knowledge, analytical skills, and the ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment. This is an excellent opportunity for a payroll professional who enjoys problem-solving, working cross-functionally, and contributing to process improvements.
Key Responsibilities
- Process payroll accurately and on schedule for multi-state employees
- Review payroll data for completeness, accuracy, and compliance with internal policies and applicable regulations
- Maintain payroll records, including earnings, deductions, taxes, and benefit withholdings
- Reconcile payroll accounts and assist with month-end close activities related to payroll
- Research and resolve payroll discrepancies, employee questions, and tax-related issues
- Prepare payroll reports for management, accounting, and audit purposes
- Support payroll tax filings and ensure compliance with federal, state, and local regulations
- Collaborate with Human Resources, Accounting, and other departments to ensure accurate employee data and payroll changes
- Assist with system testing, payroll audits, and process improvement initiatives
- Help maintain confidentiality and integrity of payroll information
Qualifications:
- 2+ years of payroll experience, preferably in an analyst or payroll operations role
- Strong understanding of payroll processes, payroll regulations, and reconciliations
- Experience processing multi-state payroll preferred
- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and payroll systems
- Strong analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills
- High attention to detail and ability to meet deadlines
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience in the technology industry or a fast-paced corporate environment
- Familiarity with ADP, Workday, Paylocity, UKG, or similar payroll platforms
- Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Business, or related field preferred
- CPP certification is a plus
