Customer Service Representative

Our client, a mission-driven nonprofit organization in San Diego, CA is seeking a compassionate and service-oriented Customer Service Representative to support community members, donors, clients, and internal stakeholders. This role is ideal for someone who enjoys helping others, communicating clearly, and contributing to an organization focused on making a positive impact. The ideal candidate brings strong customer service skills, professionalism, and a commitment to supporting the nonprofit’s mission.

Key Responsibilities:

• Serve as a primary point of contact for incoming calls, emails, and general inquiries
• Provide timely, accurate, and courteous assistance to clients, donors, and community members
• Respond to questions regarding programs, services, events, or general organizational information
• Document customer interactions and maintain accurate records in internal systems
• Route inquiries to the appropriate departments and follow up to ensure resolution
• Assist with intake processes, appointment scheduling, and general administrative support
• Support community outreach efforts and help maintain a welcoming and helpful service experience
• Handle sensitive information with confidentiality and professionalism
• Collaborate with internal teams to support daily operations and service delivery
• Contribute to a positive experience that reflects the organization’s values and mission

Qualifications:

• 1+ years of customer service, call center, receptionist, or client support experience preferred
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills
• Strong interpersonal skills and ability to work with diverse populations
• High level of empathy, patience, and professionalism
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and experience with CRM or data entry systems preferred
• Strong organizational skills and attention to detail
• Ability to multitask and work effectively in a fast-paced environment
• High school diploma or equivalent required; additional education is a plus

Preferred Skills:

• Experience working in a nonprofit, social services, healthcare, or community-based environment
• Bilingual skills are a plus
• Familiarity with intake coordination, case support, or donor/community communications
• Passion for mission-driven work and serving the community
