| Job Summary |
The Assistant Patient Care Manager supports the Manager for EMS and Transports and provides direct supervision to the transport nurses, both adult and pediatric/ neonatal. This is a “working supervisor” position and up to 50% of the hours will be clinical shifts. Dotted line reporting relationship to the Director of Emergency Services for nursing practice, reports directly to the Manager for EMS and Transport Operations. The Assistant Patient Care Manager will provide supervision, coaching, mentoring, and opportunities for growth to nursing staff and assist in the day-to-day operations of the department. The Assistant Patient Care Manager is responsible for scheduling, payroll management, monitoring of staff competencies, and evaluation of nursing staff performance.
The Assistant Patient Care Manager (APCM) provides operational and clinical leadership for the UK HealthCare Specialty Care Transport nursing team while maintaining an active clinical role as a transport nurse on specialty care ambulances. This position supports the safe and efficient transport of critically ill and medically complex patients while assisting with staffing, scheduling, competency, performance, quality improvement, and operational readiness. The APCM works closely with EMS, nursing, medical, and dispatch leadership to support staff, improve transport operations, and maintain high standards for patient care, safety, and regulatory compliance. |
