Qualifications
We are seeking a Project Controller II to support the Financial Planning & Analysis (FP&A) team. This position is structured as full-time and offers flexibility to work remotely and/or in a hybrid capacity from one of our RS&H offices. You will have an opportunity to support our great engineers, architects, and consultants by serving as an experienced project controls professional across a wide variety of our projects. This position supports the successful execution of projects by providing operational, financial, and analytical support to the project management and FP&A teams. This position applies established procedures and processes to perform routine and complex project controls assignments.
The ideal candidate will be detail oriented, have excellent communication skills, and thrive in a collegial, but deadline-driven setting. Working under minimal supervision, this person exercises independent decision-making and judgment, and may also help train and mentor other members of the project controls team. Essential Functions:
- Responsible for end-to-end project lifecycle from setup, maintenance, and close-out (WBS, phases, tasks, budget allocation, etc.) in collaboration with project management and billing staff. Analyzes key financial metrics to ensure the project management team can meet project deadlines and budget objectives.
- Assists project management team in assembling scope and fee proposals verifying associate labor rates, checking format, and proofreading.
- Coordinates contract and subcontract execution and amendments including ensuring contracts contain proper signatures and attachments.
- Coordinates client invoicing in collaboration with project management and billing staff. Performs periodic audits to ensure maximum rates are being invoiced.
- Leads subconsultant invoice process, acting as a liaison with internal teams ensuring subcontractor invoices are accurate.
- Assists in the client management process, including opening and editing opportunities, as well as participating in client management calls. Provides reports on project data and costs to project management team and other key stakeholders.
- Monitors, coordinates, and controls a project throughout its lifecycle. In collaboration with project management staff, facilitates ongoing financial reviews to identify areas of improvement or cost-savings throughout the project.
- Facilitates project closeout processes, including final subconsultant payments, monitoring of collection of accounts receivables, final ERP project data entry, and file archiving.
- Serves as a mentor and resource for the project controller team.
- Performs all other duties as assigned.
Minimum Requirements:
- Bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance, or related field or equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Minimum of 5 years relevant experience, preferably in the AEC industry.
- Must be proficient with Microsoft Office and possess intermediate Excel proficiency in producing spreadsheets with data formulas, pivot tables and charts.
- Experience in Deltek ERP and SharePoint is a plus.
- Strong work ethic, self-starter and eagerness to learn.
- Must possess analytical and problem-solving skills, as well as strong organizational, prioritization, and oral and written communication skills.
- Must possess knowledge of financial accounting including analysis and reporting.
- Must have the ability to effectively interact with and build strong relationships with clients, customers, contractors, and other key stakeholders.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Degree in Business Management, Finance, Accounting, or a related field is preferred.
- Working knowledge of Deltek, or other ERP software.
- Familiarity with typical project management activities in the Engineering/Architecture consulting market.
- Prior experience mentoring or training junior project controls staff.

The anticipated salary range for this position is $69,000-115,000 annually. Actual compensation will be determined based on qualifications, experience, internal equity, geographic location, and other job-related factors.
