Sr. Accountant

We are looking for an experienced Sr. Accountant to join a contract assignment based onsite in Opelika, Alabama. This role is ideal for an accounting specialist who can quickly step in and manage complex bank reconciliation work with accuracy and consistency. The position will support core accounting operations, including close activities and ledger maintenance, while helping ensure financial records remain complete and reliable.

Responsibilities:

• Perform detailed bank reconciliations, investigate variances, and resolve outstanding items in a timely manner.

• Support month-end close by preparing schedules, validating balances, and helping ensure deadlines are met.

• Record and review journal entries to maintain accurate financial reporting and proper account activity.

• Maintain the general ledger by analyzing transactions and confirming account balances align with supporting documentation.

• Reconcile balance sheet and other key accounts to identify discrepancies and strengthen financial accuracy.

• Partner with internal stakeholders to gather accounting data, clarify issues, and support day-to-day financial operations.

• Review existing reconciliation processes and recommend practical improvements that enhance efficiency and control.

• Assist with additional accounting tasks as needed to support a fast-start onboarding and immediate onsite contribution.

Qualifications:

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field is required.
• Advanced experience with bank reconciliations in an accounting environment is required.
• Strong knowledge of month-end close processes, general ledger activity, and journal entry preparation.
• Proven ability to perform account reconciliations with a high level of accuracy and attention to detail.
• Ability to work onsite and begin the assignment on short notice.
• Solid analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to research and resolve discrepancies independently.

Compensation

$35.63-$41.25 Hourly
